A Podiatrist/Chiropodist must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) the same as GP's, Nurses and Paramedics.

What is the HCPC?

The Health and Care Professions Council are a regulating body set up to protect the public.  All healthcare professionals on their register must meet the HCPC's standards for their training, professional skills, behaviour and health.

What is Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a healthcare system which is originally based on the ancient principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which go back nearly two and a half thousand years. TCM views pain and illness as a sign that the pattern of energy flow (Qi) through the body is disrupted, causing an imbalance which is responsible for disease. The aim of treatment is to restore balance. This is done with the positioning of fine needles into the skin at various points along the pathways through which Qi flows (meridians). The needles are stimulated, thus promoting the flow of energy/Qi and restoring equilibrium.

An acupuncture practitioner is trained and qualified to use subtle diagnostic techniques focussing on the individual and looking at all their symptoms in relation to each other.

The National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) recommends that acupuncture can be used to treat osteo arthritic knee pain, tension and migraine headaches and low back pain, among other conditions.

What is Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage is based on the principle that soft tissue (muscles; tendons; ligaments and fascia) respond to touch and that most pain originates from the soft tissues (myofascia).  A Remedial Massage Therapist uses massage techniques designed to treat deep and superficial tissues with the use of skilled mobilisation and assisted stretching combined with an in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology. This combination brings about pain relief, correcting and normalising the soft tissues and muscles.

A Remedial Massage Therapist will be trained and qualified to carry out assessments and provide appropriate treatment for a wide variety of conditions.
